My friend has an old 1.3ghz g412 inch Powerbook running osx tiger, and she brings it to me with the wonderfully spwod appearing upon boot. I've tried everything i can think of...i ran a system check, everything hardware wise seems to be fine, so i tried booting into safe mode, verbose mode,etc...they all end up at a light blue/aqua screen and a spwod.(even after repairing permissions with the disk utility)

I am planning on booting of a linux live cd to retrieve all her documents off of it and then trying a fresh restore, but if anyone has an easier solution PLEASE let me know.

Can you get access to a Disk Warrior boot CD? Sometimes Disk Warrior can fix this sort of thing.

Cheers,
