12" Powerbook RAM question...

Hi Guys,

I have a 1Ghz 12" powerbook with 768mb of ram. 256 soldered, and a 512mb chip that i installed when i bought it 4 years ago.

The 1gb chip is $84.99. but the macbook 1gb chips are much cheaper! is there any way i can use an alternative?

ok so on this apple page: http://support.apple.com/specs/powerbook/PowerBook_G4_12-inch_DVI.html

it says it supports up to 1.25gb of RAM. "256MB of PC2100 (266MHz) DDR SDRAM; one open SO-DIMM slot; support for up to 1.25GB"

You have to use RAM that has the same specs. Newer RAM will not work in these.

www.datamemorysystems.com has them for $69. They also list the specs for the RAM (PC2100, 266MHz, etc.). You can shop around for a better price if you use those specs.
