This is my first post and I'm looking to purchase my first mac really soon. I graduate in June so I'll wait till the end of June to buy it. I was wondering what they mean by "Built-In" RAM. Is it impossible to remove? Also if it it impossible to remove is this something that will be updated to a 512 stick in the near future? I just dont want to waste room if their are only 2 slots.

Thanks

Some Macs have 'built-in' RAM in one of the two slots. It is not removable. What it means is that if you have 256 MB in the 'built in' slot that you can add as much as 1 GB of RAM in the other slot, for a possible total of 1.25 GB.

the 12" powerbook has 256 built in (soldered) and 1 expansion slot.

so if you get 512MB (which is standard) from apple and you want more RAM you have to throw away the 256 card they put in the expansion slot so you can put in what you want.

I know, it sucks
