We all know there is a very good chance Apple will unveil their new iPhone and maybe even iPad revision this Fall at their annual music event. With the exception of 2010, nearly all music event in prior years took place on the first Wednesday of September. That means that we should see the iPhone unveiled on September 7, 2011. This is by no means fact, but this is a rumour site after all, and stays in line with past music event launches.

I fail to see why Apple would wait any later than September in order to get on the holiday bandwagon, and to avoid waiting more than 15 months to release a new handset.

Thoughts? That means we are less than 6 weeks away.

Oh and would you look at that, now it's front page news. Funny how that works

IF the next iPhone is announced 9/7 then I'd bet it'll be available the week of 9/19. The last 2 iPhones were available 11 and 17 days from their announcement. The 19th of September would be 12 days from the 7th.

Yup - he called it! :D

I agree completely! I mean we all hope for sooner, but now it's middle of August and nothing to the media has gone out for an invite, so we will have to wait til this event (likely 9/7). I'm hoping to have one of these before Christmas - I won't buy until it's white and there's an untethered jailbreak.

Same here! I'm not buying until comex releases his jailbreakme.com portal. :D

I'm hoping for Sept. 19th! That would put us at just over a month away.

For me, the keep the Jailbroken iP4 vs upgrade (right away) to the 5 may come down to what the hardware specs are. There are a lot of things I'd miss if I upgrade to a non jailbroken device but I would hope there might even be a tethered jailbrake out within a couple of weeks.

I guess that is a good point actually, I'm really hoping iOS 5 can't patch the userland exploit that makes the tethered JB seemingly unstoppable! But, you're right that if the iPhone 5 is THAT great, I may have to jump onboard :p What if iOS enables automatic push updates, that would suck

I would think you'd still be able to control that on the device. I would think even incremental updates will have some signifanct size. If you can't download an app from the app store over 20 MB via 3G, I'm guessing you'll be restricted on updates as well.

If you can't control that automatically I see someone in the JB community developing something that will let you block updates. Coming soon in Cydia - Automatic Update Blocker...

I hope you're right, since MacRumors just posted an article which mentions the same date.

I started thinking of a Cydia Blocker App as I was typing that, glad we're on the same wavelength - hopefully someone else is already considering this!

Actually, I posted this towards the end of July if you read the post date. Thus, I hope MacRumors is right, as I posted this article which mentions the same date ;)

Unfortunately, it's been debunked. But only time will tell, i'm still pulling for the date you predicted.

Whenever it gets released, I am not upgrading until AT&T has some decent deals..!

Deals? Sorry, you won't see a new iPhone be "discounted" anymore than a subsidy already is.

With all respect, rumors countering other rumors =/= truth. I still think Apple will have it that date, otherwise they are changing an annual event that has been around a lot longer than the iPhone release dates.

It doesn't really matter for me if the new Apple Iphone 5 is going to be released on 7th of September or 19th. If its coming out that soon, its a great news for me either ways. I'm going to buy an all new Iphone 5 as soon as it hits the market. Let's hope it is going to be an international release.
