If you're a big fan of Pages and use it a lot for long reports and papers, try this:
Open your document. Don't show any extraneous document features. Hide them or turn them off. So your View menu should look like this:
No rulers, no guides, etc.
Then, go into Full Screen mode. Change the Full Screen background colour to white (to match the document page.) If you're using a font size between 9 and 11, zoom in a bit to 150% or 200%, or to taste.
Feels good, doesn't it? Just you and the words.
Note that this seems to render a lot of the "distraction free" word processing Apps on the Mac App Store pretty redundant. Here, you've got the power of Pages, but with a nice, soothing "focus mode" you can invoke at will. Guide the pointer to the top of the screen and your tools become visible.
