This is an outstanding deal! @ $1499 it's over $100 less than the refurb on Apple's website. It finally got me to buy. There were over 1400 this morning and now there are under 900 left.

No Thunderbolt but the ability to connect my mini-DP equipped gaming laptop to that 27" monster was just too much to pass up.

Save some money and snap up a great deal!

Just ordered the same machine from BH Photos. Cost about $80.00 more than from MacMall, but I got parallels 6.0 free which I was going to buy anyway. I also got Apple Care for $122.00. Great deals compared to the new models.

Yep, these are awesome for new, unopened systems. Sandy bridge and thunderbolt are not enough reason to spend $700+ more on a 2011 model but what really made my mind up was the lack of mini-dp input on the 2011. That was a no go for me. I was really looking forward using that 27" display for games!

Mine arrives Monday. I can't wait!

I also went to BH Photo and bought one + AppleCare. Its fast, big, beautiful and great!

I ordered this exact machine at around 5am on Wednesday morning and got it Friday by noon (UPS Ground, free shipping). Fantastic so far. No yellow display, WD hard drive- thing is perfect. Love it. Coming from a spotty Hackintosh and 24" ACD this is definitely an improvement.

Having a 27" iMac and a 11" Air is an incredible setup.

Curious though OP, where do you see how many they have in stock? Or was that relayed over the phone?

Do you connect the air to the iMac and use that great display?

There is a small square button in the upper right corner of the macmall.com site labelled "Apple Closeouts". click that and it will list all the prior models and the stock remaining. They are back over 1400 today so I suspect the number may drop during the day only to miraculously grow for the next day to create a false sense of urgency.

Of course I could just be cynical. :)

Counting the moments until mine arrives.

Of course you can. BTW, you can also buy AppleCare from Apple for $119,00 (Free Ship) if you are an student or work for a school or if you know somebody who is attending or working for an school you can buy it using their name and have the AppleCare under your name. The lady from Apple gave that suggestion.

Seriously considering it. I upgraded the hard drives in my older iMacs so I'm not as concerned with opening up the system. The fan issue concerns me but I guess I'll see how that goes.

On a sad note, UPS just delayed my delivery because they claim the package weight was incorrect and they needed to adjust the billing to Macmall. Beyond stupid! :mad:

I guess it will arrive tomorrow.

FYI, the 2010 iMacs only have 2 sata ports, 1 for the HDD and 1 for the ODD.

Hmmm, I thought the 27" had an option for HDD and SSD combo as a BTO. I can't imagine Apple created different logic boards with and w/o the necc connector.

I guess I'll find out when I get inside... if it even gets here! :mad:

The 2011 iMac has the HDD+SSD combo option. If you want a HDD+SSD combo for the 2010 iMac, you'll have to remove the SuperDrive. 2010 iMacs did not come with HDD+SSD as a BTO.

OK, I just checked and the 2010 models did have a SSD+HDD combo option, however if you didn't order it from the factory, access to the sata connector required partial removal of the login board, additionally, no cables or 2.5" bracket are included on the non-combo models.

OWC offers a mail in upgrade solution if you don't with to perform the upgrade yourself.

So it's definitely possible on the 27" 2010 models.

The 2010 didn't have a SSD+HDD option, it only came with 2 SATA ports. That link doesn't say otherwise.

edit: My bad, the iMac that I opened up and replaced the HDD was a 2009 iMac, for a friend, has only 2 SATA ports. The 2010 might have 3 SATA ports like the 2011.

It came after all. Games from the Alienware laptop are gorgeous on the iMac display. I will never use the laptop display (unless I'm traveling). The screen on this 27" is awesome and I like the smaller chin vs. my 24"

Good catch on the 2TB model egghead! I ordered the 1 TB this morning but called them up a few minutes ago after seeing your post and upgraded to 2 TB at the same price. Today has been one hell of a great day. I can't wait for them to deliver this.

That is indeed an awesome price for the 2TB, $100 less than Macmall with double the storage.
