I think September 21st is the keynote, invites next week probably around the 14th

1. Its a wednesday, the one after the Back2School promo has ended
2. Its before quarterly, right before
3. HTC reveal is on the 20th

I hope so. Not long to go if this is true. :)

My prediction:

Invites sent out: October 5th
Keynote: October 12th
Media event: October 19th
iPhone 5 announcement: October 26th
Pre-orders: November 2nd
Launch: November 9th
In-store sale: November 16th

I said it first.

So in your scenario, what is the Oct 19th event for if they are waiting to announce iP5 until the following week? And does this mean two events?

I've provided links and clues, but I just don't think people get it yet, Apple said a major product transition is going to occur before the end of their fiscal year (September 24th) Obviously this is a Saturday, so the event is going to be sometime that week now because we haven't received any invites this week and now that its Friday, we won't. The invites will be sent out next week some time.

Totally agree. No way Apple would have an iPod only event one week, then an iPhone event the next. There wouldn't be enough substance to fill a keynote if it were iPod only,

Likewise, launch and in-store sales will begin on the same day, as usual. Apple could decide to release in November, but it's pretty unlikely. I think the invisible writing is on the wall for a Sept 21 media event and October 7 release. It just feels right based on trends from previous years.

EDIT: I see that I missed another glaring error in this post...
So from the OP we have a keynote, then a media event, and then an iPhone announcement. This would be three events a week apart from each other. It makes no sense. Almost like the OP is just trying to be silly.

I've seen it a few times and agree with you 100%.

I think Apple is gonna hold their event on the 20th just to steal press coverage away from HTC. It would be a dick move, but somehow I can see Apple doing that.

Let it be known that on September 9th, 2011, MacRumors member, PBF, said it first

He/she shall immediately be awarded a great prize if the prediction comes true

For the time being, let us praise his awesome predictions and shower him with cookies:

I think invites definitely next week

heard that someone saw the sprint iphone, thinner, curved and a metal back
hopefully the screen is larger find my ip4 screen too small after using a focus and captivate for 2 weeks each.
but the sprint strategy update on october 7th is about the iphone from what ive heard which makes me predict that it will launch (as in able to buy) that day. One keynote due to the product transition before the quarter ends

a sprint store, manager and 2 employees apparently said october 7 is about iphone5--and that the $125 transfer credit might end before keynote and its still unlimited data but nothing about the phone itself
