Am I the only one that noticed that on the Apple webpage, standby time is cut by a whole third.

iPhone 4: 300 standby hours
iPhone 4s: 200 standby hours

I'm no battery expert, but isn't these numbers disappointing?

I'm no battery expert either... but has anyone even come close to having 300 hours in standby with the iPhone 4? I can maybe see getting that with a virgin iPhone in Airline mode, but that's about it.

300 hours is 12.5 days, or nearly 2 weeks! I can't make it through 2 days of light use.

Yeah thats very disappointing. Standby time is the most important factor in battery life. A phone is literally on standby for the most time rather then any other activity.

Exactly.

So what I'm trying to say is it iPhone 4's battery life translates to 2 days of light use... What will the iPhone 4s's one translate to?

As my iPhone 4 is now, I have to charge it once or twice a day already.

I also don't get how the Wi-Fi usage has dropped from 10 hours on iPhone 4 to 9 hours on iPhone 4S, while the 3G talk time has increased from 7 hours on the iPhone 4 to 8 hours on the iPhone 4S?

If I can make it thru a single day with light usage w/o having to recharge I am happy...

Yeah those estimates of S/B hours make me giggle a bit...

I suspect that the new 3G chip is much more efficient. The wifi chip is the same. While the A5 processor requires more power.

This is the only disappointment of the iPhone 4S. The difference might be iOS5 and overhead for notifications, etc.

Hopefully someone will do a scientific test with iPhone 4 IOS4 vs IOS5 so we can get to the bottom of this.

I think the iPhone 4S has a more realistic battery life.

Kind of like when the MacBook Pro 2010 was launched it had 10hrs of battery, and the 2011 version had 7hrs.

I'm confused (OK, that isn't hard to do). Anyways, I just watched Phil Schiller cooing about the best battery performance in an iPhone yet, and (of course) the industry leader in overall battery technology.

No?

I noticed this too. I'm hoping I can get from 7AM to about 10PM with light - moderate use. Am I wishfully thinking?

Sounds like it, but we get more talk time! Kinda weird here, but I don't talk much, but I do everything else tho lol.

I sure as hell hope you'd be able to. Because I use my iPhone 4 a lot so if you cant get through a day with light- moderate use then I definitely won't be able to with heavy use
