I was recently told about the micro center powerbook special. It's an awesome deal...

However, when I went to help my dad purchase it, after a long decision between iBook... Sold out! Darn, those went quick

Any ideas if they'll be back? I hope i hope I hope

He said they should be getting more towards the middle of the month. I'll be checking daily...

Are these refurbished? I'm surprised they would be getting more discontinued powerbooks in...

After rebate it is $1,100 shipped with tax for me, not bad. $400 less than the equivalent (no superdrive) current 12" model after tax.

I bought one of these Tuesday. Brand new in box, qualified for the $10 Tiger update. No dead pixels (yea!) For some reason it was the best experience I've had at Microcenter (I normally want to slay the checkout people by the time I leave.)

St. Louis Park in Minnesota had 5 in stock when I bought mine.

Ha! I shop there when I have to. Those checkout chumps really get on my nerves: they always start out by asking for your eMail address. I always say "NO!" then they get all huffy and they go on about why I should sign up for their stupid eMailings. "No means NO" I always tell them... tools, I tell ya, tools!

Anyway, good deals on those PB's! I paid much more for mine

I got one of these in England for £600 minus tax, so it looks like there are some bargains to be had. I got the last one yay

It was wierd, as I was expecting the worse.

The sales guy asked if I needed anything other than the PB, I said I'd look around. He left me alone until I was ready to leave, and we went up front to check out. He brought out the PB, the manager came by and thanked me for buying a computer with them. No name, no email, just gave them my CC. They printed out a rebate form and gave me two receipts. I walked out smiling.

Freaking Twilight Zone episode.
