Just wondering if I should wait until the new designs will be released. It's been three years since the last design overhaul toward the MBPs.

One thing never changes on these forums; sarcasm.

That's because it's the same answer every time. If you need it now buy it now. If you want to wait then wait. It's all rumors right now and no one can tell you other wise.

The rumors I've read say March 2012 but that's also the rumored iPad release date, so maybe February or June?

My guess is it's safe to say there will be a refresh to the MBP line no later than June 30 2012.

buy now...wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen of a redesign. its likely the new design will be thinner and hotter and have more problems. just go with what works, especially if you still want an optical drive.

thats what im doing anyway.

Next gen timing will depend on Intel releasing Ivy Bridge chipsets; Apple will almost certainly use it and no new MBP until they are available in quantity. My guess is April or May 2012.

Because Apple, with all the billions of dollars in the world, truly fascinating research & development facilities and great personnel, would launch a new product that accounts for a good proportion of their sales, that will suffer from issues more greatly than it has in the past with previous-generation models.

Cut the sarcasm please. We've seen Apple's successes in gaining market dominance and delivering outstanding products with support and service to match (most of the time anyway).

A new product is bound to have some of its problems; the world isn't perfect and things will always need time to get ironed out.

Before you criticise, unless you work for, or oversee the developments of any multinational larger than Apple, or claim to have better expertise, shut your face.

These threads are completely stupid. Just take note of when intel is releasing new cpus, and keep an eye on things around that time.

Because the CPU means everything.

You know, when the Chinese aluminum plants eventually blow up seeing their pathetic quality control & maintenance...

I predict that it will be released before the great Apocalypse.
I don't really know why one needs a new computer right just a few months before the end of the world. Really what is the point. Maybe Apple will agree and they will just sit it out.
Wait or don't wait. It is not even certain they will release an updated model just a few months before the end. You might as well enjoy all the time you still got with a current model instead of half the time with a future model. Especially if they decide not to bring a new model than you will regret it.

What do you worry about the future if there is none a year from now? Just check out the web there are so many prohecies prediciting the end of the world in 2012 you can assume for a certainty that one is at least right. They cannot all be wrong now can they.
