I have a small partition that is just an image of the Snow Leopard install disk (so I don't have to go find it). I'd rather this partition never mount, as I only want to use it to boot from on occasion. I found the following which mentions doing it via vifs:
http://bit.ly/rQkbqo
However it doesn't seem to work for me on SL. It still mounts when I boot off the other partition. In my console log I see:
11/20/11 7:42:18 PM com.apple.autofsd[68] automount: Mount for UUID=2EC887D2-ABE6-319A-A4D0-F6DDFB83A32C has no path for the directory to mount
Any ideas on how to get this to work? My /etc/fstab looks like this:
#
# Warning - this file should only be modified with vifs(8)
#
# Failure to do so is unsupported and may be destructive.
#
UUID=2EC887D2-ABE6-319A-A4D0-F6DDFB83A32C none hfs rw,noauto
