If I connect a USB DVD unit (e.g.) to the TBD I can access it through the TB cable (e.g. to a MBA). Fine.
Is there a WiFi capability within the TBD so that I can access the USB DVD unit from the MBA even if not connected by TB cable ?
If not, then can I connect an Airport unit to the TBD (LAN or USB) and access the USB DVD unit through the Airport unit ?

You can't use the TBD as a hub for the DVD over wireless unless it's connected to another TB Mac.

Not sure about using with Airport Extreme but it doesn't say to can so it's unlikely it will. If you really want a wireless system think about using an old PC with DVD drive and connect it via ethernet. You can then try and use Wake On WAN to turn the PC on and use it like that.

Thanks.
The specific problem I'm trying to solve is accessing the same USB peripherals with a MBA in two configs.
1. When it is attached to the TBD through TB
2. When it is somewhere else in the house with WiFi as the connection.

Maybe I need to look at attaching a WiFi USB hub to the TBD and connect stuff to that.
