Mods if this needs to be merged with another thread go for it, i figured i wanted people to see it and try it out for themselves.
to start the story off i have a 16GB 4s, I got it about 3 weeks ago.
Ok so I have FINALLY figured out the issue with why my phone hasn't been charging to 100% lately. First i thought it was because of this local radio station app that i listen to at night and it only seemed to not charge when i had that on all night. So ive gone the past few nights listening to it, then making sure i stop it and then clear out every app that i have running.
Well unfortunately every once in awhile it was still not charging to 100%, it tended to stop around 95% - 97%. Really bugging me. So yesterday i set out with the purpose of draining my battery to dead, then charging straight to 100%. I did have my wifi on to help drain it and when it restarted i closed all my apps but forgot to turn wifi off. So it charged and what do you know, it stopped at 97%. Did a hard restart, but it came back on at 97% and this got me pissed so i just decided i was going to go to bed.
Phone was still plugged in at this point and it had the Plug symbol in the battery indicating it was fully charged/not charging. Well i wasn't going to listen to my radio station app, so i turned off wifi because i noticed it on, and within about 5 seconds, it started charging again. Plug symbol turned to the lightning symbol to indicate charging.
Had a nice little wtf moment. So i did a test. i kept it plugged in, turned on wifi, and it was still charging (lightning symbol) so i unplugged the dock connector, plugged it back in and again NOT charging (plug symbol) i then went to turn off wifi and it went back to charging.
So i wanted to see what anyone here thinks. If they've had the same problems, if anyone would like to test this "issue" I'll be reporting it to Apple today at some point, but if anyone else has the time i'd like them to try and report what they find out.
