128mb or 256mb graphics?

Looking at getting an iMac and just wondered how much difference does the extra 128mb graphics memory make to games/overall performance?

Only wondering as I am going to the apple store on thursday and I don't think they keep the 256mb ones in stock so I would have to order online instead of walk out with it.
