I was polishing my brand new BMW M3 with some high quality Turtlewax to give it that new car shine, so when I drive by the plebs on the highway, all the heads turn to look at it.

Then I started thinking: Wait, why not just polish my MBP? I gave it a try and polished the top lid with my Turtlewax with the same method I used to polish my car, and boy, what a difference. The top of the lid looks brand new and shines like the surface of my BMW M3. Give it a try and tell me how it looks! I'd take a picture but it wouldn't do justice.

Polishing is different from waxing. I haven't used Turtle Wax in 24 years, but it was considered to be fairly mediocre quality. I thought Zano is the popular choice for BMWs.

Polishing something that is Anodized (as a MBP shell is) will 'cut the tops off the finish and Fill in the Valleys' as it were.. There is a HUGE difference between Polished and Anodized Aluminum..

I think Mild Soap and Hot Water are about all you should need, unless you want to completely change the appearance!! :apple:

this is definitely one of the weirdest and possibly stupidest suggestions i've ever read on MR.

I mentioned in the thread title that taking pics really doesn't show you due to lighting, but it essentially makes your mbp shiny as hell.

OP is on my ignore list, I would take their advice with a grain of salt.

And bragging about not jail breaking, go you..

For reasons that I don't feel comfortable stating, shiny computers... turn me off. Majorly.

The only thing that I'd accept being shiny is my Macbook's screen.

u didnt even try

and no its not hard to take pics of shiny things

If the OP takes a picture, please let it be together with the M3. Maybe chillin on the hood or something? Or would that be too much shiny for the camera to handle?

Guess I forgot to turn my head when the last 3 series Bimmer went by!
Too much..

You don't know anything about detailing if you are using TurtleWax.

You got that right!!!!:D

did franky4fingers really get banned right after posting that? hahaha.

this is why i love my aluminum MBP, because id never get a stupid idea to use anything other than a light cleaner for the entire thing! you must have an older plastic one and a old bmw.

PICTURE! and i hope you at least used turtle wax otherwise you should trade your bmw in for a chevy cobalt.

This is like a more "grown up" version of that teenager user on here who wore shades and thought he was gangsta, I forget his username, he was banned probably over a year or 2 ago now, but he was hilarious and such a massive joke any thread he started or posted in immediately became awesome (for the wrong reasons :p)
