Hi All,

My 12Pro has just started to slow right down.
Takes seconds for some Apps to open…they just hang, and then eventually faceID kicks in and the App opens.

Not bad really considering the age of the 12Pro now, but still a pity as there’s very little else wrong with it. It even looks quite new, and there’s loads of available memory left. Loads.

Anyone else finding the 12Pro pausing/hanging for a while before Apps open?

Thanks!
BD

What is the storage capacity and the available storage?

Do you ever turn off or restart your iPhone?

What is the battery health?

12 Pro here and i don't feel any slowdowns or hanging apps.
Indeed I'm pretty happy with the performance of the device,
although i have to mention, I'm still rocking iOS 17.7.2.

[edit] I would first try to restart the phone or completely shut it down, wait a few minutes, then restart it.

Hi winxmac,

A very good point indeed…
Battery health at 90%

I got the battery renewed by Apple Store a few months ago…😁👍

Hi UliBaer,

That might be my issue…
I’m on 18.5😱

History shows that hardware slows as software is updated😵‍💫

I’ll do the restart 👍

Thanks😁

No issues here on my iPhone 12 Pro iOS 18.5 & battery at 83%.

Certainly an occasional restart is a good idea, but also watch your free storage. You want 15% free, so if it's a 128GB that's 19.2GB free storage. If you don't have that, expect minor issues like this. If you're below 5% free (6.4GB) the issues will be the norm, not the exception.

FWIW I also don't use a VPN other than iCloud Private Relay; they cause more problems than they solve IMO.

Maxing out storage can definitely cause issues like you're describing.. If you have plenty of storage, you might try and restore the phone using Finder/iTunes and setup as new without using your backup. If the device works fine, try and restore using your backup and see if it slows down again. If it does, something is corrupt in the backup and you'll need to just setup the phone as new

Thanks FreakinEurekan,
I've checked and I've 64GB free.
I don't use anything other than iCloud Relay, plus apart from all the many, many EV charging Apps, there's not much else on my iPhone.

Hi BugeyeSTI,
Funny thing is, it now seems to be a momentary glitch.
Seems fine now, but I don't know why.
Thanks for all your help. Very useful indeed.
