I'm planning on buying a Korean IPS monitor in the near future (probably a Crossover 27Q), and I've got a few questions concerning compatibility between it and my 13" MacBook Pro 2010. I'll be using it mostly for design work, so accurate colours and native resolution are important to me.

1. My MacBook has a Mini DisplayPort, right? If so, can I just buy a MDP to Dual DVI cable and have the native resolution (2560x1440) run on it? I don't care about sound, but I must have the native resolution.

2. If I don't want sound, can I just buy a cheap MDP to Dual DVI cable on eBay (eg this one)? Paying Apple $100 for a cable that apparently doesn't even work that well seems excessive.

3. Barring other issues like uneven backlighting and dead pixels, from what I hear these displays seem to be quite badly calibrated most of the time. How can I correct this on my Mac, as most of the solutions that I have found concern Windows?
