Hi all,
I've got Catalina (fully updated) set up on a 13" 2012 i5 MBP and I'm experiencing the Sleep Wake Failure in EFI issue - usually when the battery reaches near zero and the operating system is supposed to suspend the session to disk. Instead, the computer powers off and then chimes twice on a cold boot, goes to the log-in screen and once my password is entered, all windows and programs from the previous session are reopened.
The general consensus seems to be that resetting the NVRAM and SMC will cure this. It hasn't worked for me during several attempts. Would I be correct in assuming this is a software problem with Catalina rather than a hardware one with the MBP? I've seen numerous posts with other people detailing similar experiences with Catalina - and Ventura for that matter. I could create a 2nd partition and install Mojave and if it doesn't occur within that environment then it would definitely rule out a hardware problem.
Any suggestions or advice that you can share will be appreciated.
