Any chance this will ever happen?

side note: This is my first post! I've been lurking here for over a year and i finally have found a reason to post :D

Lots of people want it, but I think Apple have learnt from the 12" PowerBook/iBook problem they used to have where the two machines were too similar. So I vote no.

Oh trust me, I'm used to steves world... I just know that maybe theres some tiny chance that it could happen.

If not, when's the best guess for the next update to the gigantic 15"?
WWDC?
Back to School?
Holiday?

I would just get a macbook pro now and not wait. The montevina wont be anything drastically faster to wait for.

Something like 200-300 more points in geekbench but other than that I'd say buy now and wait for Nehalem possibly rev. b.

buying now is always a good option.

I remember when people expected a new MBP in January for MacWorld so they started waiting in November. They didn't come out with a new one but they said they mine as well just wait it out for longer. They waited for over a month more. After all was said and done, they weren't very happy about waiting that long.

buy now, and by now i mean wait till after the conference just in case, its so close. 15.4" isn't huge, I enjoy it very much. As for a 13", why throw all that power power and have such a small screen, macbook and air both seem to have that option covered anyway.

I'm waiting until WWDC. I, too, am hoping for a smaller MBP. Like others said, I doubt it will ever come out.

why exactly do you want a 13" MBP?? Or what do you need in a MBP that you can't get in your blackbook or an MBA?

I do alot of full-resolution photo editing, sometimes with a few open at once and it really takes its toll on my macbook, so i'd like a faster processor, and a higher resolution display (not dependent on screen size).

games would also be nice so a graphics card would be nice.

Multitouch is hardly a reason to buy, but its a nice little feature that i could see myself using fairly often. Speaking of which, does Aperture II support it?

Interestingly enough, you do work which most people would want a bigger screen for. Sure the graphics would be nice, and so would resolution, but do you think you'd ever buy a macbook if a mbp was the same size and slighty more expensive...

Basically i just want what i cant have- the ultimate combination of power and portability. I mean its not that i cant have it... apple could easily throw one together, they just wont.

I would also love love love a 13 inch mbp... Something powerful enough to plug a monitor to and use as a desktop, but still very portable... basically eliminating the need for 2 laptops... the macbooks are getting so powerful now that they are getting close to what people need

close, but not close enough... just editing one large image in photoshop (cs2) my fans kick into high gear, and with any more than that i start to get slow downs.

I would kill for a 13 in MBP. Like most people that want this I basically want it for the aluminum case, graphics card, and backlit keyboard (i.e. all the litte extras that come with a pro machine).

I have preached this before so i won't go into it again, but i think apple is missing a part of the market here but not having a smaller PRO machine
