Hi guys,

I want to buy a rMBP for some video editing, I want to be able to use FCP X or 10, whatever the latest one is. I'm going to buy refurbished because of the price difference form new ones. The 15" model has a 2.0 GHz quad core i7, whilst the 13" has a 3.0 GHz dual core i7. Is there a performance difference between these processors? Both come with 8gb RAM. The 13" has a 512gb SSD whilst the 15" only has a 256gb SSD. I would also be using photoshop every now and then. Screen size does not worry me at all, I like the bigger SSD on the 13" model. Anyway, if there is not a big difference I would get the 13".

Thanks

The 15" has a far more powerful processor.

Get the 15". It also has a far better GPU.

Refer the benchmark here: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/1466086?baseline=1122504

The 13" is only 9% faster than the 15" in single core tasks. Meanwhile, in multicore tasks, the 15" is 67.6% than the 13".

FCP X is heavily multicore.

Thank you very much! That's exactly the information I was looking for. Very helpful, I will definitely get the 15" after seeing those comparisons. Thanks

I prefer the 15" because of the quad core processor, larger screen and better GPU. Plus the base model as more ram.

Not really. The OP is looking at the late-2013 base 15", which only has 8GB of RAM.

Mid-2014 and later ones came with 16GB as standard.
D'oh. I missed that - thanks for the correction.

I was too confused between the 13" and the 15" versions, but then I got the 15 inch version because of the Quadcore processor and larger screen. And I absolutely love it! I got the mid 2014 rMBP 15inch
