I have 13.4 on an external seagate firecuda 500gb on my M1 Mac mini 2020 with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. I goto software update and it downloads 13.4.1. Then it shows white progress bar and black screen with apple logo and several minutes to finsh installing. And then it boots back to the desktop without asking for password. About this Mac still says 13.4. No 1 at the end. I have downloaded several times and rebooted. Same thing. No 1. Still says 13.4 instead of 13.4.1.

My mom got an iMac M1 8GB ram 256gb ssd also couple months ago. I tried everything and 13.4.1 would not install. So I booted from the iMac and installed from there. It downloaded and then installed. It booted back to the desktop without password so I thought it did not work. But to my surprise it said 13.4.1. So it worked. When I shutdown the iMac and transferred the external to my mini it said the version of osx on this disk needs to be reinstalled. Why? It's the same thing. iMac or Mini its the same system. Why do I need to reinstall?

Ok, not sure why I needed to but I reinstalled from my Mac mini and now all is good so thanks.
