Hello, all you smart Macfolk, and thanks in advance for reading; beaucoup, even, for responding. I have an old MacBook that started making noise, and a faraway smart friend told me it was the fan. I followed his suggestion in getting a replacement fan online. Cheap. Arrived quickly. Had a friend who has built his own computers help me with the surgery. Long story short, worked fine except for the fan before the operation. Post surgical trauma, white battery light was flashing on front right side, so I plugged it in to charge. Green light on battery was soon followed by a second, third, fourth then fifth light, all in a nice line. Charger cord changed from amber to green. Tried to power up, but no go. Hear a little muffled scuffle of electronic stuff going on startup, then nothing. Black screen. Hmmm. Well, thought I'd try to plug in my iPhone to see if it would charge. Nope. No indication that the phone was getting any juice. We worked slowly and carefully, during fan replacement surgery, but ... those two circuit boards that get pulled out with levers? Not sure they were put back in the same spots. Are they identical? Could that be the error that is causing my poor little Mac so much grief? Or did we fail on some other task that made the logic board illogical? Trying to figure out whether to try to resuscuitate this beloved machine, or if I should bite the bullet and just buy a new one. Any thoughts?
