I sit with my 08' alum-ubody 13'' macbook on my lap very often. when I maneuver myself into a new position, my macbook always maneuver with me. but i've been hearing a unique sound that it makes if I tilt it too steeply. this sound closely resembles the same sound a flourecent light makes when it turns on. --ting!-- just a few decibels louder than a pindrop.

any idea what this is?

ah, so that's what that is. so, the initial ting isn't the sound of damage.

Initial? Can you replicate and record the sound then upload it here or youtube? (Right click on the audio file, click "Compress "file name"", then upload the .zip file that was created here)

No worries

Dont worry about that motion sensor kicking in and stops your harddrive dead. This is normal. You can disable it but then you might damage your HD. And if your laptop kind of freezes for a few seconds its fine, it just the time it takes hor the HD to get to its speed again. Just warning ahead of time!
