13" Aluminum MacBook Battery Issues?

I was using my 13" Aluminum MacBook and the battery symbol said I had 50% power left. All of a sudden my MacBook shutdown, and I couldn't power it up again. I attached it to my power adapter and upon powering up I got a "service battery" notice.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have the applecare protection plan, is the battery covered under the plan?

Yes. Make an appointment at your local apple store. They will give you a new battery.
