Which one makes sense? Both price out at $2599. Moderate RAW image processing; general usage for everything else. Streaming videos.

13" Base model/no OLED
2.4 i7 dual core>3.4

16 GB 1866

OR

Yes, I don't know how I ever watched videos before on any of the pre-kaby Lake devices.

Well HEVC8 and VP8 are supported by Skylake which is pretty much what is used today, but more and more providers are going to HEVC10, so it will only get worse for you. I would want a $2K device to last more than a year.

HEVC10 is a pipe-dream for the future. It's not going to become standard (by which I mean the "only") ANY time soon.

It is a standard right now. Netflix 4K is HEVC10. I expect it to be a standard everywhere within a year tops.
 
No doubt get the OLED version. It will be faster, you get the touch bar, better RAM, etc. I don't think there's a single advantage to the non-OLED one in these configurations unless I'm missing something...

Just the i7 but for the OP use case it should matter.
 
I'd go with the OLED model if you're set on spending $2599. If you'd like to save some money, skip the i7 and go with the base model.
