I heard the charging cubes are different for the 13 models, I know it comes with a type C cord, so will the old charging cubes not work now as they are USB? if not where are you guys getting them from? Amazon? links?

I always wireless charge. When I do connect I still use the big block that came with 11PM. The type C one.

I bought a couple Anker chargers last year that had both a USB-A and USB-C port. That way I could use the new lightning cables but also any older cables we had around the house for all our rechargeable devices.

I’m going to have to buy one, and will go with Anker as well. Their products have always been reliable.

edit: Ordered the Anker 2-port 36w PIQ 3.0. when the Series 7 watches are released, I’m hoping to pick up a discounted Series 6 (still have the 2). So, I’ll need two ports soon.

The old 5W cubes still work as long as you have a USB-A/Lightning cable. If you want a similarly small but faster USB-C PD charger, take a look at the Anker 20W cubes:

Or with foldable prongs:

This is 20W, I’ve seen 30W and 45w on apples site. I’m confused.

So what is the required wattage on the chargers ? I’ve seen 20,35, and 45W cubes.

iPhones can't charge at more than 20W. The higher-power chargers are for laptops. You can use these too (USB-C chargers automatically adapt to the power requested by the device), but they are bigger and more expensive, and a bit of a waste if you only want to use it for a phone.

I bought a 30W charging brick from Verizon last year for the 12 Pro Max and only used it twice since then. I use my old Apple cables and 5W charging bricks to charge overnight.

I have this Anker 65 watt USB-C charger that I use to charge my MacBook Pro computer. I might consider using it. I know it won't charge any faster then a 20 watt charger would. I still marvel at how small the 65 watt charger is.

It is probably better to slow charge, creates less heat on the battery. I have a Anker 12 watt charger that I will probably use 99% of the time.

Ok, so this may be a really dumb question. But, will the 13 still charge with an old lightning cable, just slower? Or does it require the usb-c/lightning cable and a usc-c charger?

Yep it’ll charge with older USB-A chargers, charging speed depends on the wattage of the charger.

Any old charger -> Lightning will work, but sloooooowwwwllyy....

I'm using an Aukey 20W PD brick I bought via AMZN at the wall to great success (the equivalent car charger ain't no slouch, either, but it's rather diff. to remove from the "cigarette lighter").

No longer on AMZN . . .

Anker seems to be stompin' them into the dirt on sales, so it's no surprise, really, that they are no longer featured on AMZN

Really: just get anything 20W/PD/USB-C and you're good-to-go.

AFAIK they got booted from Amazon for soliciting reviews with freebies/discounts along with other brands.
