I need to buy a new charger for my 13 in aluminum late 2008 macbook and after research i believe i need to get a 60W. With the new connections, do i need to buy a magsafe to magsafe2 adapter on top of the 60w power adapter if I go the direct from apple way? Also I am new to licensed apple stores and because apple itself does not sell the original power adapter anymore, does anyone know of a licensed apple store online that I can purchase my old charger without getting a new one + adapter? TIA

Uhh no, that adapter allows you to use an original MagSafe charger on a computer with MagSafe 2 like the MacBook Air or Retina MacBook Pro. It's useless if your computer uses an original MagSafe port.

Also Apple still sells the original MagSafe charger: http://apple.co/1rWzIk9
