Of all the "upgrades" in the 2011 13 inch MBP, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 seems the most questionable. I've seen conflicting arguments on its quality, and whether it is an improvement on the previous generation's Nvidia 320m. I know the HD graphics 3000 is not the greatest, but can it offer a decent gaming experience?

you should check out notebookcheck.com and anandtech.com they have posted benchmarks for the intel HD 3000, the new 13in in both flavors seems to be playing most dated games (2-3 years ago) on lower/medium settings and most current games on low. Don't expect this machine to fly through Crysis on high with 30FPS, not gonna happen. If you have realistic expectations of the 13in MBP's you won't be dissapointed.

i'm thinking that the intel integrated graphics will be adequate for casual gaming, i'll probably go ahead and get a 13 inch MBP

It'll be fine for older stuff like Half Life 2 or Portal. Don't expect to play anything newer or more intensive at reasonable settings though.

Anyone benched Football Manager 2011?

It's the only game I play so it'd be nice to hear how the 13" gets on with it before I buy :).

Haha same. This is the only game I play too. I play it on my 08' Aluminium MacBook and it runs okay enough with the crappy 9400M card. Just ordered my new 13" so I'm assuming it's gonna run even better :)

How is having "realistic expectations" absurd? I think we'd all be a lot less disappointed with things if we didn't expect one product to act like or be better than another (for less money mind you) ie: gaming on a 13in "thin and light" Macbook and expecting it to run like a 17in. Nice touch with the latin though.

If you expect what is than what is is not unexpected

frivolous (no emotion attached)

OR

Expect the expected and the unexpected isn't expected

simplified

Expect the Expected (to better emphasis the frivolity)

You might be able to get up to 15fps in super mario world

on low settings
