13 inch MacBook Air grey folder with question mark problem

Yes I have a 13inch late 2009 MacBook Air the problem I'm having is that it's just start showing a grey folder with a question mark i read on line that it could be trying to find the software but can't what I want to know is since this computer does not have a disc drive how can I restore software can I use a flash drive need help figure this out really need my laptop thanks

Sounds like your SSD has gone bad or has been erased. You're going to need to make a USB boot disk with a functional mac.
