I'm looking to get my first macbook pro and I was just wondering what the main differences are between the 13 inch from late 2011 and 13 inch 2012. I'm really struggling to work it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

USB 3 is a major improvement that should have been added years ago!!! There are a lot of inexpensive fast USB 3 devices on the market today. How many thunderbolt devices fit that description??? There are some nice things happening in this post jobs era for Apple.

Thank you!
If you had these two to choose from (Late 2011 i7 with 750GB or mid 2012 i5 with 500GB) for the same price which would you go for?

The new 2012 macbook pro also has the intel hd4000 integrated graphics, which is supposed to be like 50% faster. It also has 1600mhz ram, while the 2011 has 1333mhz, but I'm pretty sure their isn't a noticeable difference between ram.

Thanks very much, this and the benchmark tests are really useful!

I'd go with the 2012 model, why spend $$ on technology that was replaced with Ivy Bridge.

I agree w/ the others. Get the '12. Normally, I'd say the difference between one model year and another is negligible if the savings are there on the older model. But the addition of USB3 is huge, and not having it will be something you will regret in a year plus will make it much easier to sell when the time comes.
