Hello,

I currently have a 15 inch laptop (not mac) and just bought a 13 inch Air (8G, 256 G, 2.0 ghz). While I have seen the screen size in the store, I have a hard time figuring if the loss of real estate in term of screen size if really a bother. I mostly do web, emails, work and excel.

Have some people with the same usage pattern as I have made the same switch?

Thanks.

PS: I looked at the 15 inch retina display but would rather go with the Air if smaller screen size is not a big issue due to the form factor of the Air.

While it is up to you, I too find the 13" to be perfect for small tasks and when at school.

That being said, when at home, I connect it to a 21.5" 1080p display for writing and working on lectures. If you need to do serious work at home, I'd invest in one of those for $130-150.

What was your 15" laptops resolution? That might be why the transition is difficult.

Also, if you're new to the mac, there are lots of ways to utilize the screen, such as setting applications to only open in certain "Spaces".

If none of that satisfies you, you could look into an external monitor for at home and try to deal with the 13" screen when on the go.

Bingo! This has been my exact solution for a couple of years now. A cheap LED monitor for home w/ a 13 inch is the way to go. If I had the money/need I'd get a fancy apple display, but a < $200 LED does the job fine. Replacing my 2009 13 inch MBP with a soon to be shipped Air - can't wait!

13 inches is big enough for me... although 14 inches wouldn't hurt either. But I'm satisfied with the current size.

11 inches is too small!
