13" MacBook Pro Battery Question

I received my first Mac this Monday and I was perusing the forums and people recommended I should download coconut to see the status of my battery. I was just wondering why the battery capacity is 98% if my notebook is brand new. Thanks.

Because batteries are not perfect. Just use it and don't be OCD about it.

That's how the battery works.

If you let it discharge to 95%, and replug the adapter in, it will recharge to 100%.
