Hi,

It seems to me that the new 2.4 is better with the longer lasting battery and updated graphics; however, current inventories (at university) are charging more for the last-gen 2.53:

$1,099 for 2.4
$1,299 for 2.53

The ram and hard drive are the same size. I think the 2.53 should actually be discounted to less than the 2.4, perhaps $50-100 off, making it $999.

What do you think? What is a good negotiating strategy?

Thanks for your input :)

I could see the 2.53 going to the same price as the 2.4 simply because there was such a markup between high and low end previously.
With your math the old low end would now be $600.

Get the new one obviously, the card and battery are better.

My thinking is that the inventory probably won't move at the current price point and they'll drop the price so I can save some money. Yesterday, Apple had a refurb 2.53 for $1,189 which is ten bucks cheaper than their new 2.4 $1,199 (non-educational price). So Apple might actually be selling their inventory of 2.53 for a little less than the new 2.4. I'm just hoping they drop the 2.53 so I can actually save a little money even though the 2.4 does have some more appealing features.

Do you really want to save a tenner? Unless you get 2.53GHz for less than 1000$, get the new one
