I have a 13" Macbook Pro that I just bought last week (Apple® - MacBook® Pro / Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor / 13.3" Display / 4GB Memory / 320GB Hard Drive).

I wanted to connect it to my TV using the MDP through HDMI so I could get audio and video on the same port. I bought the MDP to HDMI connector they sell in my apple store it is a Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor. Since the laptop is so new I assumed that it would have the newest firmware/software on it for this because I know there are older firmware problems, but I did do a software update yesterday. Whenever I connect the MDP and put my TV on the correct input the interface freezes. The display does not change on the computer screen, and I do not see any display on the television screen.
I can move the mouse, but nothing updates. None of the programs I have open work, none of the buttons work... ect. Whenever I disconnect the MDP I get a blue screen then the system recovers and works fine. If I change the TV input off of HDMI everything recovers again.

I checked the adapter and HDMI cable by plugging it into an external monitor and it works just fine. That leads me to believe it is a setting on my television, but I couldn't find any setting on the TV that seemed like it would effect it. If it helps I have a LC42d43u sharp aquos. It is 720p if that matters. I also made sure I plugged it into the HMDI port with the audio input (input 5), but that shouldn't make a difference.

I tried starting the computer with everything hooked up, but no luck. I also tried lowering the screen resolution to 800x600 then plugging in the MDP, but I still could not get anything going.

This is my first Mac and I like it a lot, but it is very frustrating not knowing what to do since it's like starting over from windows. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
