I currently have 13" Macbook Pro mid-2010. Upgraded to 8 GB RAM last year and got 500 GB SSD (both Crucial) with El Capitan. System is faster than ever.

I have over 40K photos with over 10K (and growing) RAW Canon images. With Photoshop Elements 13, the organizer has been too slow even after SSD upgrade. I was wondering if increasing RAM to 16 GB would help. At this time, I do not want to invest in new laptop (MAC or Windows).

Having said this, appreciate your feedback of OWC 16 GB RAM on 13" Macbook Pro mid-2010. I may not fix PSE 13 issues altogether but I am hoping it will be faster than having 8 GB RAM for organizing and editing RAW files.

Thanks!

Last January I upgraded my i5 Mac Mini(Late 2012), 2.5GHZ from 4GB Ram to 16GB Ram with no noticeable difference in speed performance in regards to booting-up and opening Apps. I Plan to upgrade the 500GB HD to a SSD next year when my Applecare expires.

@caprica21 Check your memory pressure in Activity Monitor. If you are staying in the green then you have other bottlenecks for your needs. My guess would be that the Core 2 Duo is struggling.

You are so right. I opened 10 RAW images in Elements Editor and then attempted to create Panorama but memory pressure shows green. Memory usage had peaked 8 GB for long time. Looks like I will keep 8 GB for now and save money for future MAC upgrade. Thanks !
