Its only a matter of time until I think the 13" Macbook Pro will go quad core. The question is when. I would imagine by then though the 15" Macbook Pro would probably be either 6 or 8 cores. Its inevitable that processor technology will continue to improve. I'm just curious as to when we might see this transition to more cores on the mobile front. When you do you think we will see this?

When there are more apps that utilize quad cores.
Right now those apps are a novelty.

Well lets be fair, after Skylake (because its power efficiency) if Apple continues to go dual core on 13"s is because of marketing strategy, not because of the inadecuate heat dissipation: a quad core 13" would cannibalize the 15".
Also what Meister said. Most of users of 13" I know are just common people without any professional need who pick up a MBP for common usage... they buy the rMBP 13" instead of an Air because of its screen. The moment that more people goes 15" rather than 13" because they need real power, then things might change... Otherwise, Apple is not going to change for a few users.

It will have quad-core CPUs once Intel releases suitable CPUs. Probably sometime after Skylake. Right now, quad core CPUs don't make that much sense at the TDP levels Apple designs for their 13" lineup.

Isn't Intel heading to quad core with their chipsets (after skylake or is it skylake?) I'd say Apple will go to quad core when intel forces their hand.

Not for the foreseeable future. It will come when Intel decides to make the current chip Apple uses into a quad core part.
