I have the last revision 13" MBP that I've currently got connected to a Sony GDM-5410 21" CRT monitor via a mini display port VGA adaptor.

The max resolution OS X says I can display is 1600x1200 at 60 Hz, which is an instant headache. I know the monitor is capable of displaying that resolution at 75 Hz, as I've had it connected to PC's, but 75 Hz is grayed out in OS X.

I've tried SwitchResX4 to unlock "unsupported" resolutions, but every time I try a refresh higher than 60 Hz, I'll get a display but it will be lopped off on either side.

I'm beginning to suspect I've reached a limit of the VGA output capabilities of the MBP itself. Does anyone have information about how to get those higher refresh rates out of the MBP? Has anyone successfully driven a high end CRT monitor at higher refresh rates at these resolutions?
