Hi,

I have a M1 Air base (256 GB + 8GB). It is a great travelling machine, and I am typing on it now 5000 miles from home. I also have a 14" M2 MBP Pro (512 GB + 16GB). I bought the MBP because of the great screen, and more memory. But honestly it is bulky and not that much fun to travel with, so I take the old M1 Air when I travel which I do frequently. I am thinking about trading in the MBP on a M3 Air with 512GB + 16GB.
Has anyone else done this?

Also, any thoughts on screen quality versus the M1 Air and M2 MBP 14?

If you don't need the power/performance of your 14" MBP and prefer to use your old M1 MBA for travel as it's less bulky, then you should consider trading in/selling both for a new MBA you're interested in.

I was going to suggest this as well - trade/sell both and get the M3 you want/need.......

Saying that, I'm guilt of the same. Have a MBP16 M1 Max that never leaves my desk at home, and ordered a 16/512 M3 Air 13 as my portable machine......lol

There is a massive difference in screen and speakers. The only actual questions are: will you notice and will you care…

Go play with some at a reseller. Apple, BestBuy, FNAC… (no idea where on earth you are)

Good idea. I am in the SF Bay Area, where we require Apple stores on every corner. :->

I replaced my 14" M1 with the 13" M2 Air. I love the Air. I noticed the difference in the screen at first but got over it fast. The battery lasts and lasts and it is so light. No regrets. I haven't noticed it getting hot or lagging. I do have the 16/1TB with the upgrade processor. I bought it in the refurb store.

I have m1 air base and m1 pro 14. Agreed that 14 is dense and bulky that i end up working with air in the end almost everywhere.
Still I wouldn’t replace my setup with m3 air cause 2 laptops work better for me and trade in values are like “I didn’t spend 2k a year ago to trade this thing for $990”.

Though next shopping time around, i could easily entertain having a single m5-6 air instead of my old 2 laptops at that point.
