Am I crazy? I just got my new MacBook Air, and the screen doesn't look as good as how I remember my 2010 model, which I sold two weeks ago. Is my mind playing tricks on me or has anyone else noticed this? Viewing angles, brightness, sharpness all seem worse than before.

Maybe its because I've been using my iPad as my portable for a couple of weeks, but this looks almost as bad as my 2008 iMac.

Because Apple use various suppliers for screen components, the screens are of quite variable quality. Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing if you're getting a good one or a bad one until you've opened the box.

So should I return and try and get lucky?

try this and see if it helps the screen quality..i got the LG and this made everything (especially text) more crisp.

open up color sync utility--->device---display---color LCD----current profile-----other----and navigate to the file you just downloaded. You can always change it back to default, but it makes text much much better. just toggle between the two while looking at text and you will definitely notice

you must have got the LG screen. i had it once and returned it. get the samsung. No complaints about Samsung from people in this world so far. only LG

Sorry this might be stupid question: how can you tell which ver you have?

paste this into terminal

"ioreg -lw0 | grep IODisplayEDID | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

Read the output, you are looking for an “LP” prefix to numbers reported back:
LP133WP1-TJA3
Color LCD"

LP means it is an LG

That download link doesn't seem to be working.
