13" MBA + Acer S231HL + Clamshell mode = F1/F2 Brightness keys do not work

I recently just bought an Acer S231HL for my 13" MBA. I have it connected via HDMI (though a mini display port adapter). When I am in clamshell mode, the F1/F2 keys that normally control the brightness, do not work. Any ideas?

That's the way it is (at least with the monitors I use). You need to adjust the brightness on the monitor itself.
