I have pretty much decided on buying a 13" MBP for University. I think I will want the i7 as I will be running Engineering apps via bootcamp.

I am in Canada, so the 13" i7 is $1449. The refurb store offers it for $1299. I know that I will get the App Store/iTunes Card with the new MBP, but I don't really consider that $100 in savings. So basically, the refurb is $150 savings for me. Is it worth it? I have read mixed stories, some claiming beautiful spotless machines, and others complaining about cosmetic damage.

Also, is the i7 worthwhile or not?

Well, I'm personally going for a new model because of the whole SATA II/III speed debacle. I rather get a fully enabled Mac over one that may have been made before the silent upgrade.

So from what I understand, some of the early machines since this refresh shipped with only SATA II, is this the case?

Chances are you won't be running engineering apps on your personal computer due to how the licensing of such programs work...

In all honesty, the i5 would be just as good but get what you want

Just bought the 13" i7 new. Got educational priced applecare as well as the free printer and iTunes card.

Thanks everyone.

Confirmation Email??

How long does it usually take for them to send the confirmation email? I have yet to receive it.

Hate to be the downer, but the printer is only free once you send in the mail-in-rebate. And it's not an iTunes card this year, it's for their App Store.

Yeah thanks, I know I still have to send in the rebate. Don't really want the printer but I figured $13 tax (yes 13% in Ontario) was pretty good for an all in one to sell or give to family.

I thought the card was good for iTunes or AppStore?

Nope, only the app store. :)
