13"MBP and second monitor.

I have a Dell 4K Ultrasharp 27" that I'm currently using. Thinking of getting a new MBP and thinking the 13" might do but it would be my primary machine for now. If I hook the monitor up to the 13" Mbp will it still be a good picture with the on board graphics? No gaming, just surfing, business invoicing, email type stuff. Just trying to figure the best configuration to go. Or, to get a new iMac when available this year and a new MBP next year when the 10nm chips are out.

Yeah, if you aren't doing any gaming or major video editing, the new MBP 13" will handle your monitor beautifully on 4k settings. You'd only see frame drops if you are video editing or playing games (on the highest video settings).

Also, I wouldn't hold my breath on 10nm chips showing up in MacBook Pros next year. Intel is having too many delays getting those chips out, and even if they do come out next year, it very well may not be until after Apple does their refresh. If you need/want a better new machine, the 2018 MBP seems to be a pretty good choice.
