Hi,

I thought on posting this message on the regular MBP board, but
because I am leaning towards doing video is that I post here. You
may recommend me perhaps to delete this post and post on the
regular board perhaps. It is the fact that a logic board can come
with different processors 2.3, 2.7, 2.9 GHz and I wonder if that
is what you look at the most when buying a logic board or a
computer.

The thing is the following. We have a MBP at home that went bad.
The logic board got a bit of water and it has no repair. I have to
buy a 'new' logic board. They are apparently not sold as 'new' pieces
anymore, but used in good condition; and to my surprise refurbished
as well - I had not thought such fragile pieces could be bought
refurbished!

Anyways, the first thing one wants cry out for so loud is the cost of a logic board!
It ranges from $500 to $650 usd on ifixit. My MBP is an early 2011 MBP
with what was a 2.3 GHz i5 logic board. Look how expensive!:

2.4 GHz, (it doesn't says if it is i5 or i7, in case that is important), for $500:

2.7 GHz, (it doesn't says if it is i5 or i7, in case that is important), for $650:

On e-bay, I just found this one refurbished for $330:

Do you think this is better than the two previous ones from ifixit ??

Is there any other place where I may look for logic boards ??

Thank you very much in advance, kind regards,

igmolinav : ) !!!

To be honest I'd go to an Apple Store and see what they charge. They often charge less than 3rd parties would. I'd go to an official Apple Store rather than a reseller to ensure that they're not putting a markup on the parts & labour.

Hi,

Thank you : ) !!! Good suggestion !!!

Kind regards.

Did you look at the prices of the whole unit on eBay? A 2011 MBP would probably go for roughly the same price as the logic board nowadays? Why not just upgrade to a newer machine?

Hi,

Good Point! Why not buy the entire machine
for the same price one will be paying just
for the logic board!

Thank you, kind regards,
