Just watching the keynote, realised that for them to squeeze in the new SD slot on the 13" MBP, did they have to take away the microphone jack? Not that I've ever used it but still...

Personally I think this is great.

Number of times I've used the microphone port - Zero

Number of times I've accidentally plugged the headphones into it - Loads

Can see how it would be annoying for some, however you could just use a USB line in device if you need both in/out at the same time.
 
aye, microphone port IS kinda useless.
but the digital IN is not that bad.. :)
 
Hmmm that isn't such a hot move for all the sound engineers / dj's / producers out there wanting the portability of a 13".. :(
I'd imagine many will have to use a USB soundcard (more bulk) or cough up for the 15".

There is no digital IN - it's analogue: "Combined optical digital output/headphone out (user-selectable analog audio line in)"
