Just to give a little history, I am the original owner so I know the history. It did receive spill damage last September. My wife was using it for her school work at the time, and she needed a replacement right away so I found an open-boxed 2012 rMBP to replace it. A few months later I found a parts 2008 alum 13" MB and transplanted the keyboard that fixed the power button not working after the spill. Very little liquid made it past the protective layer underneath the keyboard. I don't remember any being on the mainboard itself either.
I haven't been using it a lot lately since it wasn't needed. But I was planning to use it for the next couple of weeks so I started getting it ready. After charging it overnight, I did some updates today. Then decided to do the hardware test off the original 10.6 discs I got with the system. It just seemed like the system is slow to charge sometimes, and the charge doesn't last as long as it used to back when I was using it a lot more.
I am getting constant VPOR errors during the quick test, but only when the charger is plugged into the machine. I even opened a sealed L charger just to see if maybe the charger was going bad since I was using the original one. No difference, just a different ending on the VPOR code after each test. I did reset the SMC and NVRAM but still getting the errors.
It seems the issue is related to the power bus somehow, but I can't find anything concrete about it online. I don't really want to take it to an Apple Store for diagnostics because I'd rather not put too much money into it being close to 5 years old now.
Anybody had a VPOR error and had it fixed by Apple that knows what was replaced to fix it? Or have any suggestions on where to start on testing it myself?
