13 MBP or MBA?

I'm not to sure which one I should get. I need a 13 to carry around with me, when I travel and when I'm not at the house. How big of a difference is there between the MBA and the MBP portability wise? Is a 1.5 pounds really a big difference between the 2? The only thing I would use it for is school work when I'm not at the house, I have an 27 i5 for everything else. Another thing is I could get a refurb MBP from the refurb store for about the same price I could get a used MBA off someone and I know that te MBP has a faster CPU.

1.5 pounds is alot I think. It really comes down to what your school work is? To me school work involves running virtual machine so the 2GB MBA is not enough for me.

Also do you only use the imac at home or do you need a laptop for couch surfing and using in bed? If so I would say the MBP is better since it wont get too hot sitting on the bed and it wont get loud from basic youtube/movie watching.

also remember the MBP has a longer battery life.
