Hey All,
i just bought my mbp 13" and the battery life is only 5 1/2hours with backlit off/ bluetooth off / screen light at 70% / wifi on / mainly on mail and web / youtube video.

is this consider good? or how can i maximize to the potential limit?
i know to get 10hrs as advertise is a dream ;)

Are you getting 5 1/2 hours of "Stated" time.

I mean does the battery logo up at the top say "5:30"??

Cause what i've noticed is that the remaining battery time stated up there is WAY off. I end up easily getting 6-7 hours out of it even though the timings are all over the place. And i even keep booting in and out of windows 7.

any type of video streaming from the net will drain your battery, but the time you're getting is about the same as mine :D
i went all day yesterday without charging. i was on itunes, mail, firefox, and some other apps...the battery lasted for 7hrs

Do a search. This question has been answered before.

The displayed remaining time isn't correct until after bat calibration.

eventually i dont care about the time stated on top of it. is always wrong.
BUT the % is quite correct. when it say 1% then few min later it shut down.

i will try without any video streaming now and see how far it can go.
feedback later

final result :
continuous working. mainly on mail / office / web-browsing on news / NO video streaming / NO bluetooth / light at 70% / backlit off.

7hours with 2% left

i got 11:18 with same exact circumstances, you might wanna get your battery checked out. i also was able to use itunes for 2 hours and watched ~15 mins youtube.

Youtube videos are probably the main drain.

Pretty much. My battery life's around 7-8 hours, closer to 8-9h if I'm reading something on the net, but closer to 4 when a battery load's being spent on youtube videos. Flash content is hands-down the largest drain on the battery I've experienced so far.

2% left running 4 hours and 22 mins.

About 1 hour watching video in VLC
30-45 min flash videos
45 min with itunes/spotify
mail and firefox (w/ adblock plus and flashblock) running

wow 11hrs?!

im more than happy if i could get 8hrs. thanks for the advice
is always luck when comes to electronic goods.
when you lucky, the spec you got is exactly as publish and when you are not then you are screwed!

normally i will do full recharge then use until it die off then the next day recharge to 100% again..
will this process affect the battery cycle?
i use to plug continuous charging while using on my previous fujitsu and till now the battery is still around 4hrs.

also my macbook pro battery reading is 5943mAh.
what is yours?

I'm not sure it's good to let the battery die so often. It's good for once-a-month calibration, but otherwise, I don't think it's beneficial. The key is to enjoy your awesome computer :).

Yeah i'm getting about 7 to 8 hours too with normal usage.
Some music, some video/youtube, web surfing, lots of downloading.

The % is definitely a better indicator than the "time" posted.

The laptop lasts me the whole day without any issues so I'm happy with it. It's really awesome not having to think about power supply all the time!
