13" mbp running hot after installing 10.6.4

I have a mid 09 13" mbp (5,5 base model).
i've noticed an increase of 10-15 degrees C @ the cpu regardless of load. it tends to stay in the hi 60's to low 70's since installing 10.6.4, where it never used to breach 60, even when running a heavy load.

any ideas?

i'm going to try to trash & reinstall smcfancontol to see if that helps....
