Hi,

Recently bought a refurbished iPhone 13 mini with new battery and everything was great until I stupidly update to iOS 18.6.2 thinking I needed to get in quickly before iOS 26 comes out (no intention of installing).

Battery % now visibly drops even when hardly using the phone and also gets hot.

Hope that 18.7 improves things, but I’m skeptical. Keen to hear people’s experience especially with 13 mini. What version are you staying on and what is your experience?

Also when is Apple likely to stop signing 18.7 for devices that can update to 26?

Thanks

Maybe your battery is not an official one?

I bought one 13 Mini from Amazon refurbished with 91% of battery life and dropped to 79% in less than 3 months.. it didn't say that the battery was not official but it cant be possible for a legit battery to drop 12% in 3 months.

And more related to your question, no, updating to 18.6.2 didn't kill the battery life the same way as you. Maybe a fresh install?

Thanks for the reply. The battery and performance was fine before I updated. Also no issues with heat until after updating and it seems both these issues are being reported even for newer phones. I have given it plenty of time to settle after update.

Battery health is 100% according to settings and the current cycle count is 20.

According to iOS parts & service history it does not mention anything about non genuine battery. Also coconut battery lists the brand (can’t remember which one) and it was one of the battery brands Apple uses.

I will consider trying clean install.
