Does anyone know of a good hardshell case that does not attach to the case. I'm looking for something to place in my backpack but allows me to pull out my mac from the side and does not require me to take the whole case out.

having a hardshell case that doesnt attach to the macbook makes no sense.

get a sleeve?

Sorry I probably didn't word my request properly.

I basically want a hard sleeve.

well theres no plastic hard sleeve cause that would just scratch ur macbook

ur best bet are the sleeves at the apple store

or buy a backpack with a built in sleeve so u can jsut slide it out

Does anyone know the difference between the viper xs3 and the viper xs3 Gtr? This looks pretty awesome. I was considering http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/protective-sleeve-deluxe-cl57486

If You Want A shell

Then Speck make good stuff, I have the clear shell's for my Air and my MBP....If you want something that doesn't attach to the actual device then a sleeve would seem to be your best bet.

Remember that having the shell on won't prevent you from pulling your Mac out of your backpack, and a sleeve only protects your device when it's in it.

If you don't want scratches etc. I'd go for a shell.
